My One New Year’s Resolution

What will this year hold for me? I don’t know. To say I don’t care would be a gross lie, but I resolve to honor God and others before myself. Join me, won’t you, in reading Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost for His Highest daily. Here is today’s writing in part-

Jan 1, 2010 My Utmost for His Highest. “. . . my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed . . . .” We will all feel very much ashamed if we do not yield to Jesus the areas of our lives He has asked us to yield to Him. It’s as if Paul were saying, “My determined purpose is to be my utmost for His highest— my best for His glory.” To reach that level of determination is a matter of the will, not of debate or of reasoning. It is absolute and irrevocable surrender of the will at that point. An undue amount of thought and consideration for ourselves is what keeps us from making that decision, although we cover it up with the pretense that it is others we are considering. When we think seriously about what it will cost others if we obey the call of Jesus, we tell God He doesn’t know what our obedience will mean. Keep to the point— He does know. Shut out every other thought and keep yourself before God in this one thing only— my utmost for His highest. I am determined to be absolutely and entirely for Him and Him alone…”

I wish a Good and Happy New Year for each of my friends, and the twelve additional readers who occasionally stop by, LOL. You know who you are.

Gore and Global Warming… Uh Oh!

Oh, what a web we weave, when we practice to deceive.

From Political Integrity:

“There are many kinds of truth. Al Gore was poleaxed by an inconvenient one yesterday.

The former US Vice-President, who became an unlikely figurehead for the green movement after narrating the Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth, became entangled in a new climate change “spin” row.

Mr Gore, speaking at the Copenhagen climate change summit, stated the latest research showed that the Arctic could be completely ice-free in five years.

In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”

However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore…”

The article then goes on to say:

“…Meanwhile, five hours of negotiating time were lost yesterday when developing countries walked out in protest over the lack of progress on their demand for legally binding emissions targets from rich nations. The move underlined the distrust between rich and poor countries over the proposed legal framework for the deal.

Last night key elements of the proposed deal were unravelling. British officials said they were no longer confident that it would contain specific commitments from individual countries on payments to a global fund to help poor nations to adapt to climate change while the draft text on protecting rainforests has also been weakened…”

Remember what I said last year in Why Global Warming? It’s all about the benjamins, and removing them from the pockets of Americans. Every excuse under the sun will eventually be given. The question is how long can we withstand the onslaught of power hungry politicians? Will we finally succumb to government rule loosing our independence forever?

I will close by reminding us of these sacred words:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Honoring PFC Marcus A. Tynes US Army

Everybody loves a parade. Me; I think of the movie A Christmas Story, when Randy was sitting on dad’s shoulders and Ralphy was worried he was going to miss Santa Claus in the local department store. Or the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with our favorite pop stars lip-syncing to their own hits, inflatable characters and the Radio City Rockettes kicking the crap out of history. Or the Rose Parade celebrating the New Year with marching bands and floats that take months to assemble.

 Today however, I participated in a different type of parade. One that was quiet and solemn, even over the rumble of pipes as we escorted a hero from March AFB to a mortuary in Riverside. Today was another Patriot Guard Ride.

 The official DoD release is as follows:

 The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.  They died Nov. 22 in Zabul province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device.  They were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Killed were:

Sgt. James M. Nolen, 25, of Alvin, Texas; and

Pfc. Marcus A. Tynes, 19, of Moreno Valley, Calif.

There were over 75 sleds (bikes), 10 cages (autos) and a Riverside City Fire Engine that followed the Carriage and family as the procession laced its way on the 20 mile trip across town. A dozen or so Fire apparatus blocked intersections with crews standing tall and saluting as the entire group rode by. Riverside police assisted with escort and traffic control. But the most profound thing I saw was the patriotism of average citizens who were standing outside their businesses waving flags, and some even stopping and exiting their vehicles, snapping to attention and firing off salutes indicating prior military service. The respect I saw for this young hero was overwhelming.

This was indeed a parade; but it was one that honored a soldier who gave everything he had for our freedom. My duty will always be to honor those who are willing to lay down their life for the one thing I hold most dear; my family. To my friends who are currently active duty and vets like myself who may or may not have served in theatre, Thank you for your service.

A Prayer for my friends and Family on this day of thanksgiving:

“Gracious God, like many believers before us, we complain when things do not go our way. We want abundance of everything rather than what is sufficient to sustain us. We would rather be elsewhere than where we are at the moment. We would rather have the gifts You give to others than what You provide for us. We would rather have You serve us than serve You. Forgive our lack of gratitude for what You give.”

For all the blessings we have received this year, I am indeed thankful for our freedom and liberty that, in spite of taking some severe hits, remains intact.

General Thanksgiving

Flirting With the Enemy

On 9/11, the US had an IN-YOUR-FACE encounter with a group of Jihadis who do not have our best interests at heart. After the dust settled and air travel restored, our incumbent President sought to understand the threat and identified the overwhelming challenges, and then did his best to swing the pendulum back to our side. His enemies were however, were not just those who sought to kill every American standing, but career politicians who were rooted in his opposition. What they didn’t get then, and what our current administration still doesn’t understand is Islamic terrorists are not concerned with party affiliation; yet our President continues to flirt with the enemy; giving them constitutional rights, and the protection from the laws we hold dear. If one person believes these terrorists give an ounce of credence to our constitution, please take the time to watch and learn.
