"The Declaration of Independence acknowledges God as Creator, Lawgiver, 'Supreme Judge of the World,' and the one who providentially superintends the affairs of man. I join the Founders in personally acknowledging the importance of Almighty God's fixed moral standards for restoring the moral fabric of this nation." - John Adams

but back to the point - I can't deny that most Americans identify as Christians, but the founders wanted it OUT of government and many were agnostic and so far left for their day regarding religous views.

To some how claim that a simple majority rules in the case of 'national religion' all while crying fowl when the left points to majority opinions regarding abortion rights, environment, and many others, is extremely hypocritical.

Gawfer,
I will certainly treat you and others on your blog with respect and manners. I presume I will be afforded the same?

It's no fun going to the lefty blogs, other than for a few laughs and leads.

And I truly despise a lot of what you say too and find the hyposcrisy and lies dispicable. If you're not interested in a respectful view from the other side, I will stay away.

I do enjoy watching politicians getting called out on the carpet - no matter what their stripe.

Thank you for posting this. I'd heard about it, but not seen it.

One troubling and recurring theme is when the going gets tough - i.e., they are getting their ass handed to them by a woman, Gibbs was Mr Condescending. Nothing will top Obama's campain trail "ok sweetie".

Buyer's remorse? As if the alternative would be coming up with better policies? I dont think so.

The good news is the opportunity for a real leader to emerge. There are many reality tv star politicians in the US at the moment, but people, including Helen Thomas, are crying out for substance.

Jilted lover? That's a good way to put it. If you're to the left of Helen Thomas like Obama is, you're off the charts.

LOL, Wage Slave, I am not as generous with my site as Jenn is, so after saluting the Ensign, you may mill about smartly but as you represent a political position I truly despise, mind your manners.

Now, to your comment:

John Adams was speaking directly to a state sponsored religion like 'the Church of England.' Context my boy.

81% of American adults identify themselves with a specific religion: 76.5% (159 million) of Americans identify themselves as Christian.

Though that number is down from 10 years ago, it still clearly indicates the United States is predominantly Christian.
