More Reason to Implicate Dodd in Mortgage Crisis

WASHINGTON“Despite their denials, influential Democratic Sens. Kent Conrad and Chris Dodd were told from the start they were getting VIP mortgage discounts from one of the nation’s largest lenders, the official who handled their loans has told Congress in secret testimony.

Both senators have said that at the time the mortgages were being written they didn’t know they were getting unique deals from Countrywide Financial Corp., the company that went on to lose billions of dollars on home loans to credit-strapped borrowers. Dodd still maintains he got no preferential treatment.

Dodd got two Countrywide mortgages in 2003, refinancing his home in Connecticut and another residence in Washington. Conrad’s two Countrywide mortgages in 2004 were for a beach house in Delaware and an eight-unit apartment building in Bismarck in his home state of North Dakota…”

And this guy is in charge of solving the mortgage crisis. Yeah, what other deals has he made that benefit him and screws the Average American? Here’s a question: why is it when a member of the republican party gets caught with his hand in the cookie jar, the GOP turns on him like a rabid dog, but when a Democrat’s compromising behavior is exposed, fellow democrats rally around him, shielding him from certain doom? Perhaps it is because they are afraid their own indiscretions will also be exposed? On both sides of the isle.

As I said in a previous comments thread, I am sick and tired of elected politicians behaving as though they have some sort of unlimited authority over the American people. From Babs Boxer demanding to be called ‘Senator’ instead of Mam to Barack Obama’s recent “The Cambridge Mass Police acted stupidly” comment, they have completely abandoned the idea that they are there to represent us; not rule over us.

There is no longer honor in serving the people because they don’t govern anymore – they rule. This is the height of elitism. Government is supposed to fear the people, not the other way around. I agree on Dodd, and it is interesting that if a Republican had done the same, not only would the GOP make sure he paid for his sins, but the liberal left Democrats and biased media would have been on him like rabid hounds to rip his heart out, and destroy his political career.

Funny, the same time Dodds was getting two mortgages, I was having to struggle to get one – and at the time we were DINK, had tons of equity in the house, and were only asking for a small refi. Nope, no special treatment there…

Chris Dodd is a hypocrite like the rest of them. There’s a reason he didn’t rise to the office Obama nominated him for, and that embarrassing considering how easy it is to be an Obama appointee!

No kidding Amy. And his ‘Czars’ are nothing more than front-men’ to run interference for the real people in charge who could not pass the muster.
