The Hidden Truth of Racism in the United States
Yesterday, this cartoon was published in the NY Post.

It doesn’t take much effort to see the potential racist implications, even after the artist clarified that was not his intention. Yet barely a nano second passed before folks like the Rev. Al Sharpton who seek to profit from the perceived racist attacks against Blacks, bellied up to this Chuck Wagon.
Media leech Chris Matthews interviewed Congressman Gregory Meeks NY on Hardball who condemned the cartoon as “Offensive and Horrific”
Matthews also quoted Barbara Ciara, NABJ President, saying “To compare the nation’s first African American Commander in Chief to a dead Chimpanzee is nothing short of racist drivel.” Matthews finished the interview with “I’m with you, Congressman.”
In other news, Attorney General Eric Holder Decided that most Americans are cowards when it comes to discussing ‘unresolved racial issues.’ It seems that even though many Americans like to consider the United States the ethnic melting pot of the world, we average Americans just don’t talk about ‘racism’ enough.
“WASHINGTON (AP) – Attorney General Eric Holder described the United States Wednesday as a nation of cowards on matters of race, saying most Americans avoid discussing unresolved racial issues.”
Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards,” said Holder, nation’s first black attorney general…”
But per the 2000 US Census, this so called melting pot is divided thusly:
White Caucasians: 71.5%
Hispanic: 12.5%
Black: 12.3%
Asian/other: 3.7%
Amazingly, even though they are a distant third in percentage of population, the recipients of the highest amount welfare in this nation are Blacks and African Americans; and not just the quantity of recipients, but in dollar amounts per recipient paid.
According to The Cato Journal volume 15, No. 2-3
THE EFFECT OF RACE AND SEX ON WELFARE BENEFITS By Howard Gensler
“…At the national level, both the race-based and sex-based analyses for every group examined found that disparities exist in the allocation of welfare. Black single female-headed households received $756 more welfare per year than similarly situated non-black families. For a one-child family, this difference amounted to 16 percent. For a two-child family, this difference amounted to 13 percent. Black two-parent families received $395 more base welfare per year, but $27 less welfare per year per child, than similarly situated non-black families. That difference amounted to 12 percent for a one-child family and 11 percent for a two-child family. Similarly, significant sex-based disparities existed in the allocation of welfare at the national level. Single women with no children received $358 more welfare per year than similarly situated men.
At the state level for single female-headed households, 15 states gave blacks an average of $1,569 more welfare per year, and three states gave non-blacks an average of $1,504 more welfare per year. At the state level for married couples with children, seven states gave blacks an average of $3,359 more welfare per year, and four states gave non-blacks an average of $1,730 more welfare per year. With respect to sex-based disparities, ten states gave women $1,187 more welfare per year on average, and one state gave men $674 more welfare per year.
The analysis of disparity in the allocation of welfare based on personal characteristics such as race and sex indicates that fundamental problems of equity in either access or assessment persist in the income maintenance system. Although it is not clear why certain groups benefit disproportionately in the welfare system, it is certainly arguable that the method of welfare allocation is a root cause. An alternative system such as a negative income tax program, based solely on income, would be free from possible biases in access, administration, design, targeting, or availability. A federal negative income tax system would also allow uniformity in support levels and implicit tax rates…”
From this layman’s perspective, this study indicates that there is indeed racism in this country, but blacks are not the only victims. Now, before you accuse me of having my head in the sand, understand that I am not saying racism toward Blacks on a personal level is non existent. Indeed, there will always be racism because there is hatred in the world as we know it.
What I am saying however is perhaps Attorney General Eric Holder, Rev Al Sharpton and the rest would like to rethink their position of a ‘National Victimhood’ based on race, and explain why Blacks and African Americans are receiving roughly 16% more benefits per year than anyone else simply because of their ethnicity.

Boy, the Messiah and his cronies won’t let up. Guess it’s going to be like this for the next 4 years. They remind of the mafia. He’s going to blunt and push any legitimate criticism of his administration aside, by claiming America is racist. I wonder what the backlash will be like in the 2010 elections?

Backlash?
They don’t know what backlash IS, if I have been gauging what it is going to BE by the comments and posts of conservatives with blogs.
Gawf, Fred, great set of posts.

In the interest of full disclosure, it should be stated that the CATO article you reference came out in 1995, using data that is even older than that. What do the more recent statistics say about this?

Good Point David. It should also be noted that the US census I referrenced was dated 2000. We are due for another census next year, and perhaps, another update may be provided from Cato.
When I wrote this article, that was the most current data I could find.

Is Eric Holder seriously suggesting that Americans sweep discussions about race under the carpet? Revs Al & Jesse etc have devoted their life’s work to talking about it ad nauseaum. In fact, doesn’t Eric know? Everything wrong w/ America is due to racism; ask Rev Wright.
The question for Eric is, where is my “white privilege”? Is he saying there is a white-woman gravy train of land and cash? I’ve worked my socks off for what little I have. What a dumb-ass I’ve been!
The other question I have for Eric is, at what point will Black destiny be in their own hands?

I’ve got to say, kris, that’s a darn good question.
Silly us, the white people, working for what we have, and hoping we don’t lose it to some wanna-be bunch of “leaders” trying to spend their way out of an economic correction…

So, are all the butt-hurt obmabots claiming that Obama authored the porkulus bill? He didn’t. Is Obama a chimp? No? Then what does the cartoon have to do with him?
Seems to me that blacks are the only ones that ever compare blacks to chimps and monkeys.
