The benefits of Socialized Medicine

Recently, citizens from the liberal state of Oregon voted for a type of socialized medicine. When an individual cannot pay for his own coverage, the state run program steps in and foots the bill. How nice. But that can be expensive; especially when the illness is chronic or worse, terminal. And in spite of a couple of commercial giants like NIKE, Oregon is not a cash cow. Remember a few years ago when Oregon citizens also voted to legalize Physician assisted suicide?

FOX NEWS reports:

Oregon Offers Terminal Patients Doctor-Assisted Suicide Instead of Medical Care

Monday, July 28, 2008

PORTLAND, Ore. — Some terminally ill patients in Oregon who turned to their state for health care were denied treatment and offered doctor-assisted suicide instead, a proposal some experts have called a “chilling” corruption of medical ethics.

Since the spread of his prostate cancer, 53-year-old Randy Stroup of Dexter, Ore., has been in a fight for his life. Uninsured and unable to pay for expensive chemotherapy, he applied to Oregon’s state-run health plan for help.

Lane Individual Practice Association (LIPA), which administers the Oregon Health Plan in Lane County, responded to Stroup’s request with a letter saying the state would not cover Stroup’s pricey treatment, but would pay for the cost of physician-assisted suicide.

“It dropped my chin to the floor,” Stroup told FOX News. “[How could they] not pay for medication that would help my life, and yet offer to pay to end my life?”

The letter, which has been sent to other terminal patients throughout Oregon, follows guidelines established by the state legislature…”

Though this is eerie and hints of Soylent Green, it should have been expected. With the business of infanticide known as abortion thriving in this country, why shouldn’t the legalized murder of terminally ill patients be offered by the state?

The more enlightened we become, the further from the Truth we grow.

This must have happened more than once. If so it’s a serious problem.

If children are not important, what makes anyone think that the elderly are important? There are already more dogs in San Francisco and Seattle than there are children.

BZ - dogs don’t talk back that why SFites like them. They won’t grow up to question mommie & mommie’s BS.

These actions of offering assisted suicide at a state level are far more heinous than Jack Kevorkian who offered his services to people when they asked.

This is nothing more than murder. There will be persons who might have a very dark moment and accept the choice of suicide because it’s easy and right there in front of them, but if the option hadn’t been easy, they may have made it through the rough spot and found healing.

I personally know 3 people who have beaten terminally ill status.

Looks like that state run health care isn’t the blessed miracle that the libtards thought it would be…what a shock!

This is really very simple. When any aspect of society is handed over to government control, it becomes bloated, corrupt, inefficient, and impotent. The current mess in Oregon is just another example.
