The timing couldn’t have been better. The day after ‘the one’ gave what was supposed to be ‘the greatest speech since Gettysburg’; accepting the democrat nomination for the President of the United States and his mediocre VP pick sporting the latest technology in hair plugs, John McCain’s announcement that Governor Palin was his choice for Vice President seemed to rip a hole the size of Chicago in the Obama/Biden balloon of enthusiasm.

From front to back the main stream media inundated the airwaves with Sarah Palin’s background and history. The conservative talk shows were giddy with delight and blog talk radio was all a ‘Twitter’ with the McCain/Palin ticket.

Interestingly, about 20 minutes before the story leaked (0745 west coast time), CNN published a report of a potential scandal in the Alaska Governor’s office regarding the termination of the Governor’s ex-brother in law, this morning, the Daily Kos posted a story claiming Governor Palin lied about her Downs baby, and every conservative blog with resident moonbats are buzzing with attacks and defenses of Sarah Palin.

Personally, I don’t believe Sarah requires any defense. Her authenticity and genuine desire to reform is evident by her tenure as governor of Alaska. I find it incredibly audacious that those on the left are criticizing her ‘lack of international experience’ to fill the office of Vice President while putting forth a candidate for the Presidency whose inexperience in all matters of leadership is his predominant character.

There was almost an Obama-like excitement among the GOP yesterday, and the tendency is to compare the ‘Right’s’ reaction of Palin to the ‘Left’s’ reaction to Obama. In reality however, it’s important to note that the reason for happiness on the right is that conservatives are generally relieved that McCain has not followed his ‘Maverick reputation’; choosing instead a true conservative with high moral values as evidenced by a personal history that is not littered with Jeremiah Wrights, Michael Pflegers, Tony Rezkos and Bill Ayers types of characters. Sarah Palin’s addition to the ticket moves the needle back to a conservative side, and has already influenced many who didn’t support McCain, causing them to reconsider their views.

John McCain showed that he’s smart enough to pick a running mate that will solidify his conservative base while reaching across the isle to those disenfranchised Clinton voters who were so harshly disrespected by the Obama Camp. With this pick, John has shown that he really does hold to a pro life position, and may have even given himself a gracious way to reverse his stance on drilling in ANWR.

Sarah Palin has energized the base, and will undoubtedly provide the GOP ticket with a huge boost going into this week’s convention. The Hollywood show is over and ‘The One’ has had his day; it’s time to get down to the business at hand and continue rebuilding what 9/11, 2 major Hurricanes, and a democrat congress and senate have destroyed.
